What is a bone marrow donation?

The donor's stem cells can be obtained in two ways:

  1. By collecting the donor's stem cells from your bloodstream through a cell separator. You will need to have a daily injection for four days.
  2. By extracting bone marrow from the hip bones through punctures. In this case, anesthesia is required, and you will need to stay in the hospital until mid-afternoon. This method is only used in 10% of cases.
