TRANSMED Project
Project Objectives:
To improve clinical practice in transfusion medicine in Sri Lanka and Asia through three courses to train and empower three key professional groups: laboratory technicians, nursing staff, and hematologist doctors.
Project Description:
TRANSMED is a "capacity building in higher education" project, also known as “train the trainers,” funded through the ERASMUS+ program and led by Dr. Joaquim Vives from the UAB. TRANSMED supports Asian collaborators in Sri Lanka and India in transfusion medicine to train medical, nursing, and laboratory technical teams.
With the support of the Blood and Tissue Bank (BST), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and the University of Groningen, the Asian partners will design a pilot program to train the mentioned professional profiles. This program will help improve transfusion standards, first in Sri Lanka and India, and later replicate the model across Asia with the support of the Asian Association for Transfusion Medicine (AATM).
Achievements:
Creation of an International Consortium composed of:
