Clinical information
Diagnostic Utility:
This test is used to quantify erythroblasts, which are precursor cells of erythrocytes, in a blood sample. It is a determination used to characterise units of umbilical cord blood or bone marrow samples, among other applications.
Method:
The Sysmex XN counter uses Flow Cytometry and Hydrodynamic Focusing methods.
Reference values:
The results are quantitative and expressed as x10^6/mL.
Reference values depend on the type of sample analysed.
Diagnostic Algorithm:
Not applicable.
Turnaround Time:
1 day.
