Test Catalog

Platelet Antigen HPA-1b

Code: 0601

Type: Estudis plaquetaris

Clinical information

Diagnostic Utility:

  • This determination is useful in the typing of patients or donors where it is necessary to confirm the presence or absence of this antigen.
  • There are different techniques for typing HPA antigens, with molecular biology techniques currently being the most used.

Method:

Determination of the HPA-1b genotype.

Prior to determining the genotype, DNA extraction from a blood sample in EDTA is required.

The study of the HPA-1b platelet genotype is carried out using the PCR SSP technique, with specific primers for the HPA-1b allele in a uniplex.

Results:

The results are:

  • Positive
  • Negative

Response Time:

10 working days

Specimen information

Sample: Peripheral blood in EDTA
Sample volume: 1 tube of 5 ml of EDTA K3
Stability: At room temperature or at 4°C: 7 days
Transport instructions: Preferably at room temperature
Reason for rejection: Highly hemolyzed sample
