Test Catalog

Platelet Antigen HPA-5b

Code: 0609

Type: Estudis plaquetaris

Clinical information

Diagnostic utility:

  • This determination is useful in typing patients or donors where confirming the presence or absence of this antigen is of interest.
  • There are different techniques for typing HPA antigens, with molecular biology techniques currently being the most widely used.

Method:

Determination of HPA-5b genotype

Prior to determining the genotype, DNA extraction must be performed from a blood sample in EDTA.

Platelet genotype study HPA-5b is carried out using the PCR SSP technique, with specific primers for the HPA-5b allele in a uniplex.

Results:

The results are:

  • Positive
  • Negative

Response time:

10 working days

Specimen information

Sample: Peripheral blood in EDTA
Sample volume: 1 tube of 5 ml of EDTA K3
Stability: At room temperature or at 4°C: 7 days
Transport instructions: Preferably at room temperature
Reason for rejection: Highly hemolyzed sample
