Clinical information
Diagnostic utility:
- This determination is useful in typing patients or donors where confirming the presence or absence of this antigen is of interest.
- There are different techniques for typing HPA antigens, with molecular biology techniques currently being the most widely used.
Method:
Determination of HPA-5b genotype
Prior to determining the genotype, DNA extraction must be performed from a blood sample in EDTA.
Platelet genotype study HPA-5b is carried out using the PCR SSP technique, with specific primers for the HPA-5b allele in a uniplex.
Results:
The results are:
- Positive
- Negative
Response time:
10 working days
