Clinical information
Diagnostic Utility:
- This determination is useful in the typing of patients or donors where it is of interest to confirm the presence or absence of this antigen.
- There are different techniques for typing the HPA antigens, with molecular biology techniques currently being the most used.
Method:
Determination of the HPA-5a genotype
Prior to determining the genotype, DNA extraction from a blood sample in EDTA is necessary.
The study of the HPA-5a platelet genotype is carried out using the SSP-PCR technique, with specific primers for the HPA-5a allele in a uniplex format.
Results:
The results are:
- Positive
- Negative
Response time:
10 working days
