Phenotype Rh C

Clinical information

Diagnostic Utility:

This test is used to determine the presence or absence of the Rh c antigen on erythrocytes. It is part of the erythrocyte phenotype study. It is also useful in the study of irregular antibody specificities to demonstrate that in the presence of an anti-c specificity, the person who developed the antibody is c negative.

Method:                                             

Hemagglutination.

Reference Values

Possible results are: Negative, Positive.
In case of a doubtful result, due to a possible RHCE variant or previous transfusions, the same is reported and the need for complementary studies to unequivocally categorize the Rhc phenotype is indicated.
