Specialists Training

The Blood and Tissue Bank is a support center for training in the field of transfusional medicine in the areas of blood and blood derivative collection and control, their therapeutic use, immuno-hematological diagnostic, and cellular therapy processing included in the Hematology and Blood Transfusion residency program for Medical Interns (MIR). The total duration of the rotation is 5 months.

The specific contents of the training for the MIR in Hematology and Hemotherapy are:

Techniques for promoting blood and blood component donation and donor recruitment.

Techniques for selecting blood and blood component donors

Processes of blood donation with conventional techniques, apheresis, and autotransfusion.

Techniques for studying blood and blood components.

Methods of obtaining blood components from whole blood

Storage conditions for selective storage of blood components and handling of deposits.

Laboratory techniques of immunohematology.

Technical matters about obtaining, manipulating, and cryopreserving hematopoietic progenitors

Control of transfusion therapy at the hospital level

Hospital Hemovigilance System
